More than 150 drone activities have been recorded on the international border this year. Before this, the Border Security Force has also made a settlement plan. It has also been decided to shoot if any Indian smuggler brings a shipment of drugs and weapons to the border. Security officials said that cross-border use of drones in dropping drugs, arms and ammunition is a major challenge for security agencies. The case of using drones in smuggling drugs, arms and ammunition came to light for the first time in 2019.
The Border Security Force has shot down 10 drones this year, officials said. Also foiled drone infiltration several times. BSF is deployed to protect the 553 km border. A senior officer of BSF’s Punjab Frontier said that more than 150 drone activities have been observed so far. Last week, a drone was shot down near the Shahpur border post in Amritsar on October 14. It was a quadcopter and a holding and releasing mechanism was also found with this drone.
