The AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is continuously striving for the interests of the people of the state. The Hon’ble government will now provide low interest loans for self-employment. An amount of Rs.1 crore has been released for the year 2022-23 at cheap interest rates under various self-employment schemes for the welfare of the poor people belonging to the minority sections of the state.
Giving information in this regard, Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur said that NMDF has been established by the Punjab government to provide loans under self-employment schemes to the poor people belonging to the minority sections of the state. An amount of Rs.1 crore has been released as its share for taking a term loan from National Corporation N.M.D.F.C. Under this scheme, loans of Rs 19 crore will be disbursed to people belonging to the minority communities of the state of Punjab, including an amount of Rs 18 crore.
On behalf of the corporation, awareness camps will also be organized at the district level to inform the eligible persons about the disbursement of loans. Eligible individuals can take full advantage of this scheme and start self-employment. The Cabinet Minister said that an amount of Rs.1 crore was released during the last 5 years during the year 2020-21 under this scheme. Under this scheme, to raise the standard of living of minorities (Sikhs, Christians, Muslims, Parsis, Buddhists and Jains), loans of five lakh rupees will be given under the self-employment scheme at 6-8 percent annual interest.
