The Indian Navy has set a historic example in the direction of a self-reliant India. On Monday February 6, Navy pilots conducted the first successful landing of two fighter jets on the Made in India INS Vikrant. “We have successfully flown and landed the light fighter jet and the MiG-29K,” the Navy said in a statement. It demonstrates India’s capability in the design, development, production and operation of aircraft carriers along with indigenous fighter jets.
Indian Navy Deputy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral SN Ghormade said that this is a historic moment and a great achievement. Let it be known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted India’s first Made in India aircraft carrier INS Vikrant into the Navy on September 2, 2022 at Kochi Shipyard. With this, India joins the list of countries with the capability to build more than 40,000 ton class aircraft carriers
