Punjab’s lion Shubman Gill’s remarkable double century, broke many more records

In the first match of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Indian opener Shubman Gill of Punjab had a strong batting performance. At one end, this young man scored a double century. The youngster completed his double century by hitting three consecutive sixes. Gill completed his first double century in 145 balls. This made him the youngest batsman to score a double century in the ODI format. He broke the records of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma.

Thanks to this innings, the Indian team scored 349 runs on 8 wickets. Gilney scored 208 runs off 149 balls. Gill achieved this feat at the age of 23 in 132 days, while Ishaan did it in 24 years, 145 days and Rohit in 26 years and 186 days.

Gill is now the fastest Indian batsman to complete 1000 runs in ODIs. Earlier, the record was registered in the names of Virat and Dhawan. During the innings, Gill also equaled another Pakistan batsman, Imam-ul-Haq, who scored 1000 ODI runs in 19 innings. Gill took this record by hitting fours in 32.4 overs. Gill has left behind batsmen like Viv Richards, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton De Kock, Babar Azam in this list.
