The news of the death of a policeman posted in Barnala Jail due to bullet injury has come to light. On getting the information about this incident, DSP Satbir Singh and police station in-charge Baljit Singh reached the spot and took the body in their possession. An investigation has been started in this matter. The deceased was posted on security duty in Bikar Singh Jail.
City police station in-charge Baljit Singh said that Bikar Singh was on duty at the jail tower when he fired from his rifle but the bullet hit him, due to which he died. His body has been kept in the mortuary and his next of kin have been informed.
In this regard, Prison Officer Puneet Garg said that Bikar Singh was on duty at the tower last night from 12 o’clock to 3 o’clock regarding security in the prison. At around 3 o’clock, when another employee arrived for his duty, he saw Bikar Singh in a bloody condition with his rifle. Currently, the investigation regarding this incident is going on. Further action will be taken only after investigation.
