Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann attended the Veer Bal Divas organized in memory of Sahibzades. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mann said that the exceptional and great sacrifice given by the Chote Sahibzades will always inspire humanity to fight against oppression and injustice.
Addressing the gathering at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium here, the Chief Minister said that Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, younger sons of the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, had achieved martyrdom at an early age. He showed exemplary courage and fearlessness in confronting the might of the Mughal Governor of Sirhind. He said that the Sahibzades have inherited the qualities of bravery and selfless service from Dasmesh Pita, who fought tirelessly for the sake of humanity.
Explaining further, Chief Minister Mann said that these days my grandfather never slept on the bed. He said that I was curious to know why my grandparents sleep on the floor after December 20. They told me that this month they sleep on the floor to mourn the martyrdom of Sikh Bhai Jorawar Singh and Bhai Fateh Singh. He said that the Sahibzades set an example of great sacrifice at the age of 7 and 9, that is why they are doing this as a tribute to them.
