Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is serving a one-year sentence in the 34-year-old case of Rodriguez, may be released prematurely. Due to his good conduct, the government can release Sidhu on 26 January 2023. This has not been officially confirmed yet, but the senior leaders of the state who visited Sidhu in Patiala jail a few days ago have given this information.
Let us tell you that in the 34-year-old case of Rodrej, the Supreme Court had sentenced former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu to one year in prison. In an incident of road rage in Punjab in 1988, an old man was killed by Sidhu’s punch. In this case, the Supreme Court had earlier acquitted Sidhu of involuntary manslaughter and imposed a fine of one thousand rupees, but while hearing the review petition in this case, the Supreme Court sentenced Sidhu to one year in prison.
