Taking major action in the 2019 post matric scholarship scam, the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sacked 6 officials and employees.
Under the Post Matric Scholarship for SCs scheme, there was a discrepancy in the allocation and expenditure of Rs 303.92 crore released by the Center to the state government in February 2019. Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that a charge sheet was issued against a total of 6 officials in this case, out of which 4 officials and employees of the department have been dismissed and the case has been sent to the Finance Department to take a decision regarding 2 officials related to the Finance Department.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the dismissed officers include Deputy Director Parminder Singh Gill, Superintendent (retd.) Rajinder Choupra, Senior Assistant Rakesh Arora and Baldev Singh. Apart from this, the case related to Finance Department, DCFA (Retd.) Charanjit Singh and Section Officer Mukesh Bhatia will be sent to Finance Department to take a decision.
