Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jai Shah has announced a prize money of Rs 5 crore to the Indian team that won the Women’s Under-19 T-20 World Cup title. India won the final in South Africa by 7 wickets against England. Indian U-19 team led by Shefali Verma managed to reach the final stage in the global tournament, which the senior team was not able to cross.
After winning the title, Shah tweeted, “Women’s cricket in India is moving forward and winning the World Cup has raised the stature of women’s cricket several notches. I am happy to announce the prize money of Rs 5 Crores for the entire team and support staff. It’s definitely going to be a great year. Apart from this, the secretary also invited the entire team to come to Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
