In order to maintain the law and order situation in Amritsar, Additional District Magistrate Parminder Singh Bhandal has imposed a complete ban on the exhibition of weapons in the district using the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. This ban will also be applicable on social media. Apart from this, songs displaying weapons or violence have also been banned in weddings, events and ceremonies.
The Additional District Magistrate said that in the coming days, the concerned officials in different areas in Amritsar district will ensure to conduct random checks in their respective jurisdictions. He said that hate speech against any community will be completely banned. This order will remain in force in the entire district of Amritsar till 17 March 2023.
