DC Kapurthala Special Sarangal has issued orders to stop digging or deepening of borewells without permission. This decision has been taken in view of avoiding accidents of children falling into these borewells. The approval of the competent authority shall be mandatory for digging or deepening a borewell or well. These orders will remain in force till February 18, 2023.
The District Magistrate in exercise of the powers vested under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 has issued orders to the land owners and concerned departments before digging or repairing bore wells or tube wells in rural and urban areas within the limits of District Kapurthala. Before digging a well or bore, the owner will be required to inform the concerned District Collector, concerned Gram Panchayat, Municipal Council, Public Health Department, Land Defense Department (Ground Water) 15 days in advance.
