There is no relief from the bitter cold at the moment, North India in the grip of cold wave after dense fog

Punjab, Haryana and north-west Rajasthan to east Uttar Pradesh remained under the grip of bitter cold and dense fog on Wednesday. Although visibility improved somewhat in the national capital and neighboring areas, heavy fog in the morning disrupted rail and road traffic and several trains were delayed.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there will be no relief now. Dense to very dense fog is expected over most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours due to moisture and light winds over the plains along the banks of the Ganges. The minimum temperature is expected to be 5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to be 20 degrees Celsius for the next few days. Due to dense fog, a bus collided with a truck and overturned on the Lucknow-Gorakhpur national highway.

Dense fog also disrupted road traffic in the national capital on Wednesday morning. Due to low visibility, there was heavy traffic in many places. However, flights at the airport were not affected. Officials said that three flights returned to Delhi or were diverted to Delhi due to heavy fog in Chandigarh, Varanasi and Lucknow on Tuesday night.
