Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann closed Lachowal Toll Plaza in Hoshiarpur on Thursday. He held a press conference keeping documents related to this matter. The Chief Minister said that there is a 27.90 km road under Lachowal Toll Plaza. The Punjab government had built the road at a cost of Rs 7.76 crore with people’s taxes but awarded the maintenance contract to a company named PD Agarwal Infrastructure Limited for about 15 years from March 6, 2007 to December 14, 2022.
CM Mann said that the daily collection of this toll is Rs 1.94 lakh, which is Rs 7 crore per year. Now this money of people will start saving from today itself. He said that this amount is Rs 105 crore, when the government awarded a contract of Rs 8.5 crore to a private company for 15 years at the rate of Rs 7 crore per year to build the road, but the company did not fulfill any of the terms of the agreement. . The road is not maintained.
