Foreign currency worth 18 lakhs was recovered from a woman at Amritsar airport, the leader of the gang was also arrested after interrogation

CISF nabbed a woman smuggler on her way to Dubai from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab. During the interrogation, on the tip of the woman, the customs department has also arrested the head of the smuggling gang. By presenting both of them in the court, the customs have obtained the remand of both the accused for two days.

According to the information shared by the customs officials, the arrested woman was preparing to go to Dubai on Air India flight number IX-191 from Amritsar, but the CISF personnel became suspicious of her. When he was searched, the officials found foreign currency worth Rs 18 lakh from the bag tied on his waist. In which there were pounds worth Rs 4.53 lakh, Australian dollars worth Rs 7.91 lakh and Euros worth Rs 4.10 lakh. CISF handed over the woman to customs officials.

When the officials of the customs department started questioning the woman, she gave information about the main member of the gang. Which was stopped by the customs department at the airport. The customs department has obtained a two-day remand by presenting both of them in the court. Both the accused said that both are part of the smuggling gang. So far, both have smuggled foreign currency worth Rs 2.05 crore and gold worth around Rs 5 crore from different airports of the country.
