Once again there has been a serious coal crisis in the government and private thermal plants of Punjab. The situation is that only one and a half days to 18 days of coal is left in the thermals. On the other side, thick fog has started falling and in such a situation, the supply of coal to the thermals is often interrupted and the train services are affected. Despite this, no arrangement has been made by Powercom to keep sufficient stock of coal in thermals.
According to the available data, Ropar thermal plant in Punjab currently has 12 days of coal, Lehra Mohabbat has 9, private sector Talwandi Sabo thermal plant has only three days, Goindwal has one and a half days and Rajpura thermal has 18 days. Let us tell you that according to the prescribed standards, it is necessary to have coal for up to 30 days in the thermal plant. Coal stock in thermals was never complete in summer and paddy season but now there is a serious coal crisis in thermals even in cold season.
