The government has become strict against GST (Goods and Services Tax) evaders. GST Authorities have caught tax evasion worth Rs 55,575 crore in the last two years and arrested more than 700 people in these cases for causing damage to the exchequer. An official gave this information. Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) officials have detected more than 22,300 fake GST Identification Numbers (GSTIN).
Let it be known that the GST department is taking steps to prevent evasion including verification of registration, requirement of e-way bill and verification for filing GST returns. In addition, there are restrictions on the amount of ITC that can be used by businesses for GST payments.
