The Punjab and Haryana High Court has banned mining in 32 places in the name of distilling across Punjab. These sites were earlier banned by the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), but the ban order was later withdrawn. These orders were challenged in the High Court, which has now banned mining at distilling sites across Punjab.
Let us tell you that the High Court has already imposed a ban on the banks of Ravi in Pathankot and Gurdaspur of Punjab. Along with this, the High Court has already banned the tenders issued for mining in the state without the district survey report. Now the mining being done at 32 distilling sites of the state has also been banned.
