Police have arrested four students of a private engineering college in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district. He is accused of beating one of his juniors with an iron pipe and burning him with a hot press on his chest in the name of ragging. A senior police officer said that the accused were angry about the victim’s relationship with a girl. After which he vented his anger against the junior in the name of ragging.
Bhimavaram police inspector B Krishna Kumar identified the victim as Ankit (20), a second-year student of SRKR Engineering College in Bhimavaram city. While the names of the accused are Praveen, Prem, Neeraj and Swarup. According to the inspector, the accused brutally beat Ankit with an iron pipe. Then he was burned with a hot press on his chest in the hostel room. Ankit has been admitted to the hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable now.
