Chinese citizens will now travel in bullet-proof vehicles in Pakistan, a decision taken to avoid terrorist attacks

Amid growing concerns over the safety of Chinese nationals working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, Pakistan and China have agreed to use bullet-proof vehicles to transport Chinese workers. This decision has been taken to protect the employees from terrorist attacks.

A few days ago, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif went on a trip to China. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping had raised the issue of security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan before him. The 11th Joint Cooperation Committee of CPEC said it has been decided that all Chinese nationals working on projects will use bullet-proof vehicles when they go out.

The 11th JCC draft was not signed during Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s two-day visit to Beijing earlier this week. It said that the Chinese side is committed to providing security-related equipment to enhance the capacity of Pakistani law enforcement agencies.
