Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that till now 110 lakh metric tons of wheat has been purchased and the whole process of purchase and lifting will be completed within a week. CM Mann, who came to inspect the grain markets of Pathankot, said that till October 30, about 112 lakh metric tons of wheat has arrived in the state, out of which about 110 lakh metric tons have been purchased. Out of this, 88 lakh metric tonnes have been lifted and so far Rs 18,660 crore has been paid to the farmers.
The Chief Minister said that so that the farmers do not face any inconvenience, they are personally monitoring the entire procurement process. The state government has taken an initiative to ensure smooth, hassle-free and transparent procurement of food grains in the state. Bhagwant Mann said that by ensuring full-proof procurement at the micro level, no stone will be left unturned for the convenience of farmers.
The Chief Minister further said that the desired results of zoning of various districts of the state have come out. This has helped the state government to make a proper assessment of the cropping pattern of the state for saving water. Similarly, Bhagwant Mann said that this has helped farmers in ensuring regular supply of electricity.
