The Punjab-Haryana High Court on Friday dismissed a public interest petition seeking a CBI probe into the Chandigarh University video leak case. A bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Palli has termed the court's intervention in the matter as unnecessary.
The Punjab government told the court that the SIT is investigating the matter expeditiously. A challan has also been presented in the case. The High Court said on this that there is no need for a CBI investigation yet. On this, it was demanded that exemption be given to withdraw the petition. Allowing this, the High Court dismissed the petition. The petition was filed on behalf of advocate Jagmohan Bhatti, stating that the CU administration and the Punjab government have failed to conduct a fair investigation into the video leak case.
