The Punjab government has now tightened its grip on liquor contracts. Liquor contracts in urban areas will now be closed at 6.30 pm. Although the rules were the same before, liquor contracts were open after 6.30 pm.The Punjab government had fixed the closing time of all shops and liquor contracts at 6.30 pm and announced to impose night curfew from 7 am to 5 am but still some liquor shops were seemed to be open till 10 pm in the night.
Now the government has ordered timely closing of these contracts. Corona virus cases are on the rise in Punjab. The epidemic is now on the rise. A total of more than 46000 people have been infected with corona in Punjab. Meanwhile, more than 1,200 people have lost their lives due to corona. A few days back the Punjab government had announced a weekend lockdown and night curfew in the state in view of the rising number of cases.
