Fort includes the memories of Pandit jawaharlal Nehru
The historical fort of Jaito Mandi, which was part of the Nabha princely state, has almost got buried in the soil due to the ignorance of the Punjab government and the negligence of the administrative officials. This fort, already damaged due to rain, has turned into debris. The fort building also has a special relationship with India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. In 1923, the Sikh Sangat started a struggle against the removal of Maharaja Ripudaman Singh of Nabha Risayat from the British Empire.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who arrived in Jaito to support it, was arrested and locked in the lockup of this fort. This lockup was developed as a memento but its roof also fell due to rain in July last year and now the rest of the fort has also turned into a pile of rubble. For a long time no attention was paid to the maintenance of the entire fort including the lockup.
Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have also come to see this lockup related to the memories of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Then Congress government had also spent Rs 50 lakh for its maintenance but due to lack of proper utilization of funds, there was no improvement in its condition. Now this historical fort collapsed in the rain.
