The eclipse starts 12 hours earlier and lasts till the eclipse ends. After the eclipse is over, prayers can be done.

Earlier there was a lunar eclipse on 5 June, there is a solar eclipse on 21 June and there will be a lunar eclipse again on 5 July. The lunar eclipse of June 5 and July 5 does not have any religious significance. Because, these maandya are lunar eclipses.
